UTICA – There’s a new power in Section 3 Class B. It’s the Central Valley Academy Thunder. Poland – The past few years have not seen Poland’s girls soccer goalies getting much work. Poland dominated possession most games during that stretch, so the keepers didn’t need to do much. That changed in a hurry Friday afternoon in a 1-0 win against defending Section III Class C champ Sauquoit Valley. Junior goalie Claire Lepper turned away 11 shots, most...Read More

NEW HARTFORD – New Hartford’s Jordan Restivo had one of those dream games Tuesday at Don Edick Field. Restivo, a junior forward, scored four goals as the Spartans pulled away for a 6-2 victory Tuesday over rival Whitesboro in a Tri Valley League girls soccer battle. The win gave New Hartford a leg up in the TVL race and extended its winning streak to three games after a 3-1 season-opening defeat to Jamesville-DeWitt. “She was unbelievable,” New Hartford head coach Frank DuRoss, Jr. said of Restivo. “She finds a way to put it in. She has...Read More

CVA also received a workmanlike game from fullback Gunar Holmberg, who had a game-high 77 yards on 17 carries. “No one believed in us … but we believed in ourselves,” Josh Klosner said. “We want to be a power...Read More
