Utica –  For the second time in as many seasons, the New Hartford Spartans girls soccer team has completed an undefeated Tri-Valley League regular season. This year, the Lady Spartans (12-4, 11-0) completed the perfect league season by defeating the Proctor Raiders by a score of 7-0, this afternoon at D’Allesandro Stadium in Utica.

Last season, New Hartford finished the TVL season with an unblemished (10-0) record.

Six (6) different Lady Spartans scored for the TVL Champs today, as Micaela Honsinger, Cassie Keady, Natalie Burns, Julianne Sekula and Emily Van Wagoner each tallied a goal for New Hartford. Jordan Restivo, the Lady Spartans leading goal getter this season with 19, scored twice for New Hartford today.

New Hartford goalkeepers Gabby Hobika and Abby Buccholz combined for the shutout today. Remarkably, these two keepers have combined to allow just 14 goals in 16 games this season.

Armarae Leggett made 9 saves in goal for Proctor, which finished it’s season at (2-19) overall.

New Hartford head coach Frank DuRoss told Mid-York Sports that he believes his team “…has been successful this season with a high-powered offense led by Seniors Christina Paul, Micaela Honsinger and Junior Jordan Restivo, while the the defense is anchored by Senior center back Cassie Keady and Junior center back Sidney Restivo and the tandem of goalkeepers, Senior Gabby Hobika and Sophomore Abby Buccholz”.

This year’s New Hartford team, currently ranked #13 in the latest New York State Sportswriters Association Class “A” Poll. has played a tough non-league schedule, including opponents like Jamesville-Dewitt, Class AA Baldwinsville (twice) and Class AA Liverpool – losing those non-league matches by small margins. New Hartford lost to Jamesville-DeWitt in the Section III finals last November.

Sectional play begins next week, where New Hartford will likely be the #2 seed in Class “A”, behind defending champion Jamesville DeWitt.
