New Hartford – After a terrific 5-4 win on the road Tuesday at Rotterdam/Carman in the opening game of the best of three series to decide the NY Section 2 “North” Little League Champion, the New Hartford 11/12 yr. Old All-Stars found out Wednesday what all the fuss is about, regarding the R/C offense.

Rotterdam/Carman belted out 11 hits, in just 4 innings of play and went on to defeat District 10 Champion New Hartford 14-1, by Little League mercy rule.

David Tomasek homered twice and drove in 4 runs and Kam Carnavaly went yard once to pace the  District 12 Champions, who have scored in double digits in multiple games since the beginning of All-Star Tournament play.

Will Gall, one of the heroes for New Hartford in the Section 2 North Semi-Final against Plattsburgh last Saturday, got the ball on the hill tonight and the tough left hander found out quickly just how good R/C can hit, yielding 2 homers and 4 runs in the first inning of play.

Rotterdam/Carman would not look back, plating 3 more in the second, paced by a two run shot by Tomasek and 7 more runs in the top of the 4th inning, behind 4 more hits and some New Hartford defensive miscues.

David Tomasek picked up the win on the mound for R/C, hurling 3 innings of 1 hit, shutout baseball.

New Hartford battled until the last out though, loading the bases in the home half of the fourth inning. Jake Martinyuk singled home Tyler Potocki (the winning pitcher in game 1 on Tuesday) for New Hartford’s lone run of the contest.

New York State Section 2 Little League is split into North and South Divisions and separate best of 3 series are taking place simultaneously to determine champions in each. Both the Section 2 North Division Champ and South Division Champ will each receive a berth into the 8 team, double elimination New York State Championship Tournament in Bronx, New York, beginning on July 27th.

These two teams will now return to Rotterdam on Friday night, July 22nd for a winner take all game to determine the “Kings of the North”.

Editor’s note to the Players, Coaches and Volunteers of the New Hartford All-Stars: It has been our pleasure to cover your tremendous All-Star Season. Best of luck on Friday in Rotterdam. Win or lose, you have represented your community and District 10 in a manner that you can be proud of long after your baseball playing days are behind you!
