Syracuse – With the Section III Boy’s Ice Hockey Regular Season in the books, the coaches have selected the Division I and Division II 2015-16 All-Star Teams and the Greater Utica – Rome area was well represented
In the Dvision II, National Conference, New Hartford landed 7 players on the lists of post season accolades. Alec Bard and Zach Cole were selected as first team forwards, while Garrett Mahoney made the 1st team as a defenseman. Tyler Hansen was named goalie of the first team. The Spartans also placed Evan Strassberger, James Holmes and Jack Engdahl on the Honorable Mention list.
Spartans Head Coach Carson Cunningham was named D-II National Conference Coach of the Year.
Cazenovia’s Jake Lewis was named to the 1st Team National Conference Stars as a defenseman and Colin McGraugh was named to the D-II 2nd team as a forward. Fellow Laker Jake Stowell made the 2nd team as a defenseman. Lakers receiving Honorable Mention included Adam Race, Cameron Fry and Brendan Whalen.
Whitesboro’s Jake Hyer and Sean Gaffney received Honorable Mention status for the National Conference.
The Clinton Warriors saw 4 players receive accolades on the Division II American Conference Teams. Garrett Frank was named to the 2nd team as a defenseman, while Eddie Allen, Steve Calidonna and Matt Martini made the Honorable Mention ranks.
The Division I All-Star teams included several players from Rome Free Academy and the Mohawk Valley Raiders.
Black Knights forward Derrick Miller headed the list of 1st team All-Stars from the D-I National Conference. Fellow Roman Baylen Marschall earned Honorable Mention status.
Mohawk Valley Raiders skaters Frank Alesandro, Eddie White and Dan Deal received Honorable Mention kudos in the Division I American Conference.
