Utica, NY – Trying out for Little League, Modified, JV or Varsity Baseball this spring?  You don’t want to miss the Mohawk Valley Baseball Academy’s extensive six week baseball camp at the newly constructed Todd and Jennifer Hutton Sports & Recreation Dome on the campus of Utica College.  Some of Central New York’s top current and former college coaches and players will lead the instruction.

Each week will consist of 3 hours of defensive skills & drills along with extensive hitting instruction and cage time.  Basic and advanced base running instruction along with Strength, Speed, & Agility Training and much more!  Each player will receive a Camp Uniform Package to include: Hat, Shorts and Tee Shirt.

On Sunday Morning, January 10th it didn’t matter how bad the weather was outside, because it was warm, dry and windless inside Utica College’s incredible new indoor facility. About 85 youth baseball players took full advantage of the pristine conditions in the dome, receiving highly personalized instruction from 21 instructors, at over a dozen specialized training stations.

“We’re pretty full” MVBA’s Rocco Bouse told Mid York Sports Report, looking out over the vast expanse of artificial turf buzzing with young ball players. “But, if any kids are interested in coming in and taking part, this is only week 1 of a 6 week program and we’ll gladly pro-rate the fee and make sure anyone who wants to take part, can do so”.

In between training station rotation, Utica College Pioneers Head Baseball Coach Joe Milazzo, spent some time explaining what was happening inside the “The Hut” at UC.  “This is just a perfect venue for this type of training, at this moment we’ve got kids getting simultaneous instruction on outfield, infield, pitching, live hitting, bunting, base running, as well as agility training from the SPI Fitness”. Milazzo is entering his third year at the helm of the resurgent Pioneers Baseball Program, which chalked up 20 wins in 2015, for the first time in more than 20 years.

On the field today, Milazzo and Bouse were surrounded by numerous MVBA Staff, Utica College Assistant Coaches and Players, along with a large contingent of highly qualified coaches from throughout the Utica-Rome area.
