Three Spartans Sign Letters of Intent

New Hartford – On Wednesday, November 17th, three New Hartford Central School student athletes signed National Letters of Intent to become scholarship athletes in College.

“The Spartan Community is extremely proud of this accomplishment as many athletes dream about becoming a scholarship athlete but only a very few can actually make this a dream come true” New Hartford Athletic Director John Banek told The Mid York Sports Report.

Alec Bard has accepted a scholarship to play golf at Division I Penn State, which competes in the Big Ten Conference.  Alec, is the son of Mr. David and Dr. Dawn Bard.  Alec has a sister Sydney, a member of the 2015 Section III Champion New Hartford Field Hockey Team. Alec’s brother, Derek, is a member of the University of Virginia golf team in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Noah German has signed to play baseball at Division II Nyack College.  The Warriors compete in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and the National Christian College Athletic Association. Noah is the son of Mr. Ron and Mrs. Sandy German.  Noah has three brothers Reggie, Nicholas and Derek.

Thomas Mandel Jr. has accepted a scholarship to play Division I golf  at SUNY Binghamton University.  The Bearcats  play in the Big Sky Conference. Along with Bard, Mandel has anchored a New Hartford High School team that has won five consecutive Section III class titles and 73 straight matches. Tom is the son of Mr. Tom and Mrs. Mary Mandel, was the Section III Golf Champion in 2014 and finished 2nd at the 2015 New York State Junior Amateur Tournament. Tom’s Brother, Michael, is an up and coming member of the Spartans golf team.
