Syracuse – The Madison Lady Blue Devils basketball team dropped a tough 39-29 decision to the Copenhagen Knights in the Section 3, Class D championship game on Thursday evening in the Carrier Dome.

Copenhagen, the top seed in the Class D Tournament, was driven by a balanced scoring attack as the Knights received points from 7 different players, but just one, Brooke Smylka reached double figures with 10. The Knights got an even stronger team defensive effort and a full court press which forced 11 Madison turnovers.

The Knights held a 22-14 lead at the half and led by as many as 14 points in the second half before Madison pulled to within 4, at 31-27 with 6 minutes remaining in the contest.
