Syracuse – The New York State Sportswriters Association released the 2018 New York High School All-State Softball Teams on Monday and of the 300 players chosen, 10 players from the Utica – Rome – Mohawk Valley regions were selected.
The Poland Tornadoes received the most accolades, landing three players, all of them juniors, on the Class D squads. Pitcher Jamie Weakley was named to the 1st team, while second baseman Keara Blumenstock was chosen for the 3rd team and third baseman Thalia Pantoja made the 4th team.
Hamilton catcher Lauren Rodriguez was selected to the 5th team in Class D.
In Class C, Little Falls Mounties senior pitcher Claire Connolly was a 3rd team selection, while West Canada Valley junior pitcher Jordyn Conte was selected for the 4th team.
Perennial powerhouse Oneida saw two of its junior standouts make the grade in Class B, as pitcher Kyra Shlotzhauer was named to the 1st team and junior infielder Lauren Skibitski landed on the 3rd team.
Adirondack senior pitcher Arielle Kranbul was named to the 4th team in Class B.
The lone selection from the Utica, Rome, Mohawk Valley Region in Class A (or AA for that matter) was Whitesboro junior pitcher Cait Reilly.
