Syracuse – The East Syracuse-Minoa Spartans overcame an early three-run deficit, scoring 2 runs in the 4th and 2 more in the 5th to defeat the Whitesboro Warriors by a score of 4-3, to claim the 2018 Section III Baseball Championship.
Spartans starting pitcher Ryan Seburn overcame a shaky start by his defense, which committed 3 errors in the first inning and went on to the complete game win.
Dom Fasolo lasted just two batters in the fifth inning after relieving starter Doug Rando. Collin McAndrew finished the game strong, striking out five in two innings for the Warriors, who finished 15-5 and just short of a repeat title.
East Syracuse-Minoa (17-5) won its first sectional title since 2007. The Spartans will travel north to take on the Section X Champion on Thursday.
