Five Local Players Receive Large School All-State Accolades

Syracuse –  The New York State Sportswriters Association released the 2017 New York All-State Football Teams for large schools on Friday and five local players made the lists.


The lone 1st team selection was Whitesboro senior two way standout Phil Gilberti, who was chosen as a linebacker on the Class “A” 1st Team defense.

Joining Gilberti from Class “A” was teammate Chris Pawlowski, who made the 3rd Team offense as a lineman.

Whitesboro junior Josh Weiler was the third Warrior selected to the Class “A” team, being named as a 4th Team offeensive lineman.

In Class “AA”,  Rome Free Academy senior lineman Ryan Swavely was selected to the 6th Team defensive unit, while Proctor senior quarterback Logan Wilcox received Honorable Mention.
