Whitesboro Rolls; Frankfort-Schuyler Advances With Overtime Victory

CLASS A

1-Whitesboro vs. Fowler-8: A change of site from Chiz Frye Field to Ed Wadas Athletic Complex didn’t slow the top-seeded Warriors down one bit. Whitesboro jumped all over the Fowler Falcons with a 46-0 first half outburst in rolling to a 53-8 victory Friday night.

Mike Cirasuolo and Phil Gilberti each scored two rushing touchdowns and the Warriors’ defense notched two safeties and an interception return by Pat Galer. Lucas Casab and Romello Rios also scored for the Warriors (8-0), who face Carthage (6-2) next Friday night at a site to be determined. Gary Casab made all seven of his extra point attempts for Whitesboro.

Carthage (No. 5 seed) defeated No. 4 Jamesville-Dewitt 28-14 Friday. The Warriors, who are two wins away from back-to-back sectional titles, defeated Carthage 16-0 on Sept. 30.

CLASS B

5-CVA at 4-Chittenango: The Bears rallied from an early deficit to march on with a 44-30 quarterfinal victory over the Thunder.

Chittenango (6-2) faces the winner of tomorrow’s Cazenovia-Skaneateles game in the semifinals. Central Valley finishes 4-4.

7-Oneida at 2-Homer: The Oneida Indians pushed second-seeded Homer to the brink, but couldn’t muster the decisive score in a 6-0 defeat in a quarterfinal matchup. Jacob Rivers hit Dante Yacovone on an 8-yard scoring strike for the game’s only score.

Oneida’s season ends at 4-4. Homer plays Mexico in the semifinals.

CLASS C

1-Canastota vs. 8-Thousand Islands: Jeff Marsh threw three touchdown passes and ran for another as top-seeded Canastota improved to 8-0 with a 42-0 quarterfinal victory. Ben Marshall had two rushing touchdowns for Canastota, which advances to play Lowville in the semifinals next Friday night.

5-Holland Patent at 4-Lowville: The Lowville Raiders ousted visiting Holland Patent 21-0 in a rainy, raw quarterfinal matchup. Lowville (7-1) faces top-seeded Canastota in the semifinals. The Golden Knights finish 4-4.

5-Watertown IHC at 4-Frankfort-Schuyler: Nick Manino’s 18-yard touchdown run in overtime vaulted the Maroon Knights over Watertown IHC 26-20 in a quarterfinal thriller. Manino had three touchdown runs and Ethan Irons’ had another as Frankfort-Schuyler moves on to face top-seeded Onondaga in the semifinals. Onondaga (8-0) defeated No. 8 Mount Markham (4-4) 24-6 Friday night.

6-West Canada Valley at 3-Sandy Creek: Sandy Creek edged West Canada Valley 14-7 in a quarterfinal clash. Sandy Creek (6-2) faces the winner of Saturday’s Dolgeville-Bishop Ludden game in next week’s semifinals.

West Canada Valley’s season ends at 6-2.
